I plowed the earth,

turned over the soil as

was suggested to me,

 

yet it proved to bury nothing,

 

but in fact allowed certain

truths trapped in layers

to escape and rise like bubbles,

like balloons tethered to roots so deep

 

as to defy a successful sever.
